I would put the odds of the USA Today guy getting this story ahead of guys like Dreger, Mackenzie, or basically anyone from TSN, Sportsnet, etc....somewhere between 0 and -11%

Two things, either Jim Benning is the biggest idiot in the NHL or whoever's saying the Canucks are in on this hasn't realized the Canucks are dead in the middle of a rebuild and the draft is being held in Vancouver next year.

If they are in - he is taking marching orders from the Owner. This is one of the reasons Linden is no longer there. Benning will be told - do what it takes and he will try and do just that

You do realise, that "the USA Today guy" has been covering the NHL since the mid-80's right? Just because he doesn't work in Canada doesn't mean he's not tuned in the Hockey world.

I'm not saying he's going to be right, but to discount him just because he writes for USA today and not TSN/Sportsnet is a little narrow minded don't you think?

Maybe someone can help me here because I am very unfamiliar with the Vancouver rebuild. Are they actually a Karlsson away from being a contender in a few years? I’m just curious as why the Vancouver thing picked up over the last month.

I'm not discounting him because he writes for USA Today, I'm discounting him because I think the chances of him having insider info on a team in Canada ahead of the Canadian media are virtually non-existent. I'm also discounting him because no reporter or journalist with actual real insider info (as opposed to made up bullpoop) would break that info with EK on hockeybuzz before breaking it through the very big name paper/website that he works for. that would be akin to Dreger having a huge story, and instead of discussing it on TSN, he'd do a podcast with EK and break it there..........obviously not gonna happen

it "picked up" on this site, and ONLY this site because EK and his "sources" pull rumours out of their ass to get hits. he's obviously not going to Vancouver.

Got it. I kind of wondered if that was the case. I couldn’t find any other info, even from local Vancouver area news.

What happened to that "surprise team in Metro" EK that was the front runners?

They magically disappeared like they appeared?

Im convinced your sources are all the voices in your head.

Feel like the sources are messing with you. Since the rumors started to circulate, he's been traded to almost every team in the NHL.

Sustaining a fan base?

Canucks just said they had a 97% renewal rate of season ticket holders.

Ummm No

We lost 3 of our top 5 scorers (145 points), and replaced them 4th liners.

Bottom 5 offense last year, and we are hoping just to score enough to repeat last years numbers.
